Poseidon's Trident

Poseidon was a god in Greek mythology. In art, he was often portrayed holding a trident -- a pitchfork-shaped fishing spear -- and commanding a chariot pulled by horses or a hippocampus. He was said to have a palace made of coral and gems on the ocean floor.

The Museum of the Qin Terra-Cotta Warriors

In the Terra-Cotta Warriors museum,  Chinese archaeologists have unearthed 6,000 warriors in Vault One, 1,000 more are being carefully excavated in Vault Two, and an additional 68 warriors and a chariot in Vault Three are used as models. Amazingly, no two soldiers look exactly alike. Each of the thousands of soldiers has individual facial features, including different mustaches, beards and hairstyles.

Greece's Ancient Akrotiri

One day in about 1500 BCE, a massive volcano erupted on the Greek island of Santorini. It buried the nearby city of Akrotiri under layers and layers of lava and ash, stopping a thriving city in its tracks.
